A Way Through
Coaching for people on the threshold of change
Helping you make sense of where you are, so you can move forward with clarity and trust yourself as you go.
6 one-to-one sessions · 3 months · £600
You know something needs to change. You can feel it. But you've been circling it for a while now, unsure how to move forward or where to begin.
Maybe you've outgrown where you are — in your work, your role, or the direction you've been heading — but the path forward isn't clear yet.
Perhaps you've been so busy working and caring for others that you've lost the thread back to what actually matters to you.
Or you've had enough of following someone else's map. You want to author your own next chapter, on your own terms, in your own voice.
"Coaching with Jane was everything I could have hoped for and more. I learned so much about myself, my leadership and how to navigate tough times. Our work together encompassed the micro - firefighting, workload, team dynamics and the wider picture - as well as how to operate within systems and longer term strategic thinking.
Jane is compassionate and kind, but holds you in accountability. She has a way of asking the hardest questions, and guiding you to find your own answers. I cannot recommend Jane's coaching enough."

When we're stuck, most of us try to plan a way through. We push harder. Think more. Research all the options. Or look for someone else to tell us what to do.
But more effort rarely brings clarity. It just creates more noise, more loops, more self-doubt.
And following someone else's map rarely leads to where you truly want to go.
What I've learned is this: the answers are usually already there, in you. What's needed is a safe space — and the right kind of thinking partner — to hear them clearly.
Over time, something shifts.
The noise quietens.
You begin to trust yourself again.
You stop circling decisions and start making them.
The way forward is no longer driven by fear or pressure, but shaped by what matters.
You feel pulled by a clear vision of what you want.
And sometimes, what feels possible is even greater than you dared imagine.
"I wouldn't expect you to remember me, but you gave me a session about four years ago. You did a visualisation where I moved from Birmingham - and ended up in Wales, working with the community and making my own work. And here we are. I'm doing exactly that now, working with the best people, right in my village."

You don’t have to do this alone.
Together, we'll make sense of what feels overwhelming, find the thread back to what matters, and help you move forward with clarity and confidence so you can trust yourself to take the next step.
The next step is simple: a short, no-pressure conversation.
A chance to meet, explore where you are, and see whether this feels right for you.
“The coaching space felt safe, comfortable, and non-judgemental. I was able to make myself vulnerable and open. I have a sense of relief now, like yes, this might be an uphill climb, but it might actually be doable, and someone I trust is at the other end of the rope.”

Hi, I’m Jane,
I work with thoughtful, values-led people who are navigating change and complexity and need help finding a way forward.
For more than 30 years I've supported individuals, teams and organisations across the creative, cultural and health sectors through transition, uncertainty and growth. My background spans facilitation, reflective practice and coaching, and I bring all of that to this work.
I have a particular knack for creating clarity from complexity - helping people slow down enough to hear themselves clearly, untangle what's really going on, and find a path that feels genuinely their own.
My approach is warm, open and gently challenging when it needs to be. I won't tell you what to do. But I will ask the questions that help you find your own answers.
I'm an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM Level 7) qualified coach, trained by Relational Dynamics First and the Self-Belief Coaching Academy. I am also an accredited Action Learning Set, reflective practice and reflective writing facilitator, and hold an MSc in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes. I receive regular supervision for my coaching work.
“What I particularly liked was your very warm and easy manner. I felt properly heard by you. You created a very positive, open space so quickly. I got a sense you understood some of the important challenges I face in making change.”

What we do together
Over three months, across six one-to-one sessions, we create the space to make sense of what’s been circling and find a way forward that feels like yours.
There's no fixed formula. We work at your pace, with your priorities, and the shape of our work together will depend on where you are.
It might include clarifying what needs to change, making sense of a decision or transition, reconnecting with your values, exploring new possibilities, or letting go of what no longer fits.
Through it all, you can expect:
A structured space to pause and think clearly
Careful, focused listening so you feel properly heard
A level of clarity that’s often hard to reach on your own
Gentle, thoughtful challenge that supports clear, aligned action
And over time, a clear arc emerges: from understanding where you are and what matters, to feeling more grounded and in control, to trusting your own judgement and taking steps that feel genuinely yours.
“What I particularly liked was the real listening that Jane did. Incredibly focused listening - and then reflecting back to me salient points, finding the nuance in my words, helping me to stack ideas into an order which I could make sense of and understand.”

FAQs
-
We talk through what's going on for you and explore whether coaching might help. You can ask me anything and get a feel for how I work, so you can decide whether you'd like to start working together. There's no obligation and no pressure.
-
Every session is different, because every person and situation is unique. You might start by talking through everything that's on your mind. I'll help you gain perspective - reflecting back what I'm hearing, asking questions that open up new ways of thinking, and helping you make sense of what's really going on. Sometimes it feels like a conversation; sometimes we use more structured approaches. We follow what's most useful for you.
-
Coaching is forward-focused. While it may acknowledge the past and can feel therapeutic in its effects, it isn't designed to heal emotional or psychological distress. If at any point it seems that a different kind of support would serve you better, I'll say so and help you find it.
-
The best way to find out is to have a conversation. I also offer an initial conversation so we can see how we get on and whether we're a good fit because coaching is all about the relationship.
-
There's probably no such thing as ready. But if you find yourself going round in circles, covering the same ground in your thinking, or struggling to move forward, coaching can help you find a way through. My approach is gentle and grounded. We work at your pace, in a way that suits you.
-
That's completely fine, and more common than you might think. People often come to coaching with a vague sense that something needs to change, without quite knowing what or how. Figuring that out together is often where we begin.
-
Expect to feel heard - properly heard, possibly in a way you haven't experienced before. Coaching isn't advice-giving or being told what to do. It's a space where, through careful listening and honest questioning, you find your own clarity and your own way forward. Most people find it both challenging and quietly transformative.
-
Six sessions over three months is usually enough time to make sense of what’s going on and begin moving forward in a way that feels different.
For many people, that’s exactly what they need. For others, it becomes the start of something they want to continue.
Some clients choose to move into monthly sessions after the initial three months, as a way to stay connected to themselves and the changes they’re making.
There’s no expectation either way. We’ll find a pace and rhythm that suits you.
-
Rescheduling is straightforward - you'll have access to your own online portal and calendar where you can change bookings at any time. I just ask for 24 hours' notice where possible.
-
Fortnightly sessions tend to work well, especially at the start - they maintain momentum without feeling overwhelming. Some people prefer to begin weekly. Towards the end of the programme, sessions sometimes stretch to monthly as the work consolidates. This means the programme occasionally extends to four months rather than three, and that's absolutely fine.
-
You can pay for the full programme upfront, or spread the cost across three monthly instalments - whichever works best for you.
-
The programme isn't funded, but I do work with people who have Arts Council England Developing Your Creative Practice grants and other professional development funding. If you're thinking about building coaching costs into a grant application, feel free to get in touch and we can talk it through.
-
Yes. I keep a small number of low-cost places available at any one time for people who couldn't otherwise access coaching. Please get in touch to find out whether a place is currently available, or to join the waiting list.
-
Over the past 30 years I've worked extensively with people across the arts, culture, creative health and voluntary sectors, as well as with academics and researchers. I work with artists, practitioners, managers and leaders at all stages of their careers.
